EN EL 48 ANIVERSARIO DEL DESASTRE EN USS FORRESTAL (CVA-59)
Hoy 29 de Julio 2015 se cumplen 48 años de uno de los mayores desastres cuando Vietnam, en el porta-aviones USSForrestal, un avion F-4 Phantom que accidentalmente se le fue un cohete Zuni que volo por cubierta derramando gasolina y cayo al mar, a la derecha del F-4Phantom estaba otro avion A-4 Skyhawk pilotado por Lt. Cmdr. Fred White, el cual dicho cohete le paso por el tanque de gasolina lo cual incendio el combustible. John McCain que estaba en la cabina de su avion A-4 Shyhawk a punto de despegar le cuenta a su biografo otra historia que publica en su libro “Faith of My Fathers,” que se puede leer en linea de que el cohete le dio a su avion y se salieron dos de sus bombas cayendo en la gasolina ardiendo mientras el se escapaba de su cabina y corrio a una parte segura de cubierta. Esta informacion contraria a lo dicho por McCain se puede leer en varios articulos en internet.

En las guerras se cometen errores, y es una desgracia las muertes en combates mas aun cuando conocemos a alguien de los que han muerto en ellas, yo tenia un conocido que murio de solo 21 años Richard Gomez compartimos fiestas familiares en 1964.
Cambiar lo que sucedio, mantener cerrado los documentos despues de casi medio siglo, cuando se perdieron las vidas en ese accidente de 134 hombres, no creo sea justo para la memoria de los que dieron sus vidas por nosotros.
Agrego informacion sobre el accidente de McCain, su estadia como prisionero de guerra y su actuacion ya como senador que no ha favorecido a los veteranos.

Aqui hacen otra historia de como fue el accidente, no he podido encontrar ni a ningun piloto experimentado que me explique eso que dicen de ‘wet start’ comienzo mojado, de ahi que no entiendo nada.
(Un buen amigo me envia esta informacion) A "wet start" is a start where the engine is being started with a quantity of fuel already pooled in the engine (perhaps the result of a previous failed start) or the pilot delays ignition beyond what is normal and allows fuel to pool in the engine before ignition. Wet starts can result in a fire plume or a loud bang, and may damage the engine. The most dramatic damage will be to the compresser turbine blades due to pressure and heat failure.
However, “He (McCain) did a smart ass punk attention getting trick by doing a ‘wet start’ up of his jet. . .when a pilot wants to be a wise ass or show off, this type of engine start creates a large startling flame and lots of surprise noise from the rear of a jet engine on start-up…this was no accident.”
The fierce electrical surge caused the launching of a powerful Zuni rocket across the carrier’s deck hitting other parked planes that were packing 1,000 pound, high-explosive bombs that caused the huge explosion and nearly sank this 82,000 ton U.S. aircraft carrier. “This stunt and aftermath caused the death of 134 sailors.”

The Day John McCain Got Shot Down
McCain failed to follow instructions in combat. He did not try to evade the missile. Moreover, the pilots who were flying near him, one of them with a handheld camera, said he was not hit by a SAM. He had flown too low and was brought down by a barrage of antiaircraft fire. Since a SAM exploded in a bright orange fireball visible for miles around, it was unlikely that they had called it wrong. And since official navy records listed John McCain as downed by AAA fire, they were puzzled by why he later insisted in his political campaigns that it was a SAM.
As other pilots saw it, John McCain, quite simply, had got himself shot down.
But McCain also made another error in the next four to six seconds after he was hit. He failed to use the proper procedure he had been taught for ejecting. As a result, he injured himself critically, breaking both arms and his right leg.
